Here's a part of my blog where once a week I will be dissecting a different song from my band's album Through The Chaos and The Clatter. Up first, is one of my favorites, Win Her
Close up, let me set the scene, illusions
And insanity exactly what this game needs
Bet's placed on the Blond 2 to 1, you'll pull it off.
But, is this how we find true love?
Too good, fed up with guys like you.
You would think she is more clever
Than the learning that you wield just to win.
It's no use, you are well versed in charm.
Push back what you're going to do, focus on a way to...
Try and catch her eye, every movement calculated.
She don't even know, that she's flipping her hair.
You're talking to her friends, so she doesn't feel to special.
Now the trap is set, and you're leading her in.
This one last prize is pushing the envelope, the envelope.
She's in your sights, this one last prize, your out to "win her"
This one last prize is pushing the envelope, the envelope.
She's in your sights, this one last prize, your out to "win her"
Sit back, play on her jealousy
Until the moment you deliver the attention that she's wanting to hear
Cut loose, the conversation drops,
Leave her with her heart in hand talking with her friends
Now you've caught her eye this is more than calculated
She goes to freshen up, but she doesn't need it.
Your almost at her back, had to get her alone now
It's you whose chasing after, careful what you're after!
It's almost as if she's already loving you,
It's almost as if she's taking bets too!
This one last prize is pushing the envelope, the envelope.
She's in your sights, this one last prize, your out to "win her"
This one last prize is pushing the envelope, the envelope.
She's in your sights, this one last prize, your out to "win her"
Lyrics
Have you ever met "that guy"? You know what guy I'm talking about. The guy you KNOW is full of $#it yet he always seems to be able to get the girl? This song is about that guy. This song is a sarcastic punch in the face to that guy. At the beginning you learn about his crazy lifestyle and his obvious liking for blondes ;]. Throughout the whole song there is a continuing alternating theme between "This guy is so good hes a douche" and "This guy doesnt know what he's getting into this time". I love it because it more accurately describes a human's feelings. You know, mixed emotions? Like when you see the donkey show down in Tijuana and you're grossed out yet you think it's hilarious and can't stop watching? Nah, I've never been there either. Back to the song, the bridge completely contradicts the verses by having very little lyrical content yet it is CRITICAL to the story. Pay close attention. "It's almost as if she's taking bets too!" BOOM, what happened? it looks like our player got played son! He went through his system teasing her, feeding her, smiling, poking fun at not realizing he was not the top of the food chain here.
This song is fun, I almost wish we had room for more lyrics don't you? Don't you want to find out what happened? I mean I sure as hell do! I wanna see this guy get owned! haha no, not really, but still, it'd be fun to know. This guy by the way *hint *hint is very importand in GMM. You will hear of this guy again, in other songs. If you have any questions relating to the post or to my blog in general feel free :]
Love,
J. Ivan
